Corps of Discovery

It was a windy day about sixty degrees out on October 10th, 2017. We got to our destination. We got out of the car and saw Ranger Karen and the other cars coming. They had delicious hot chocolate for us, so we got some. Then Miss Blessing told us to figure out what we would do first. We saw a teenage girl that was pretending to be Sacagawea, but she really was Miss Blessing’s niece. Her real name is Gloriana.

After she told us who she was, we went to Ranger Karen, and she was telling us about animals. They were stuffed. She had a bear, a fox, a coyote, a fisher, and a turkey. She told us about what they do in the winter, and if they hibernate, adapt, or migrate.

Then we went over to Ranger Ken. He taught us how to sketch plants. The plants we had to sketch were twigs, leaves, bark, and something that we wanted to sketch like a pine cone. I really liked drawing it.

Then we went to Mrs. Hunewell. She helped us learn how to take photos really well. She taught us a certain way to take photos. Once we learned everything we needed to, we went on the hike. I could hear the sound of birds in my ear as we hunted for good pictures.

We got to go to the waterfall. It was beautiful, and we got a pack of stuff we could do on the hike. We got a flute, some paints, paper, and a board to draw on. It was so nice out.

After that, we went to an archery place, and we learned how to shoot bow and arrows. We did a little game that we had to shoot a fake buffalo.

It was a really fun day.
